The Lighthouse from Director Robert Eggers (the Witch). A hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. Starring William Defoe (Spider-Man), and Robert Pattinson (The Batman).
ZombieLand Double Tap
If you are looking for more horror with a lighter side ZombieLand Double Tap. The Sequel to (2009) film, Zombieland. Expect to see some familiar faces from the original cast, except Bill Murry.
Little Monsters
Continuing within the zombie genre, this month Little Monsters, starring Lupita Nnyong’o (Us, SW7: Force Awakens) releases. Nnyong’o portrays a washed up musician, who must protect young children from a sudden outbreak of zombies.
El Camnio A Break Bad Movie
Making the leap from silver screen to big screen, El Camnio A Break Bad Movie. The movie picks up where the series left off. Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) goes on the run from the police and tries to escape his own inner turmoil.
Jo Jo Rabbit
The controversial Jo Jo Rabbit from director and star Tika Waititi (Thor Ragnarok). Waititi directs and stars in this war comedy about a youth in Hitler’s army, who’s imaginary friend is Hitler. The young boy becomes conflicted when he finds his mother is hiding Jew’s within their home.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Lastly, along with all the theatrical releases. Spider-Man: Far From Home releases this month on 4k digital download. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.
Pick of the month – Joker (2019)
Todd Phillips drew inspiration for the film from Alan Moore’s “The Killing Joke”. The one shot iconic Batman story from writer Alan Moore, artists Brian Bolland and John Higgins. The storyline features, not only the origin of the Joker. But a portion of the story, tells of the Joker escaping from Arkham and shooting and paralyzing Barbara Gordon, Batgirl. Barbara survives the attack and later becomes the hero known as Oracle. Additionally, the Martin Scorsese films Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and The King of Comedy. Several other films also influenced the screenplay such as Serpico, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and The Man Who Laughs. Phillips wrote in a certain amount of the Joker lore into the character.
Entertainment News
Sony and Marvel have come to an agreement that Spidey will return for a 3rd film in the Homecoming series as well as an unspecified appearance in another MCU film. Tom Holland will be back to play Spider-Man when the third film hits theaters on July 16th, 2021.
Jonah Hill is in talks to join DC’s Superhero film The Batman starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves. Though it’s unclear who the actor could portray, there has been speculation he’s being considered to play a villain in the film.
Stranger Things has been renewed for its forth season. The Duffer brothers have made a deal with Netflix. Similar to Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss deal. The Duffer’s are set with a five year deal with the streaming service. However, no word yet on when season four of Stranger Things will air.
