Venom (2018) New Trailer
Who are the new Symbiotes?
Earlier this week a brand new Trailer for the upcoming Venom film was released. It included much of the same footage that was screened at San Diego Comic Con a few weeks ago. And with the release of the new footage, we got our first look at the films main villain along with some new symbiotes.
Let’s start with the films main villain portrayed by Riz Ahmed. Riz will play Dr. Carlton Drake and the symbiote Riot. Riot made his first appearance in 1993 in Venom: Lethal Protector #4. Dr. Carlton Drake used Venom to create 5 symbiotes, including Riot. Who is similar in appearance to Venom except for being slightly larger and grey.
The trailer also showed us a few other symbiotes, including a man that was being experimented on towards the start of the trailer. Although it’s unclear if he survived being merged with a symbiote. There was also a yellow symbiote that might become Phage, and a woman who was shown after being merged with a symbiote.
There’s also speculation that Woody Harrelson will portray Cletus Kasady, the psychopathic serial killer who becomes Carnage. However, sources say that Harrelson is barely in the film. Which means Carnage might make an appearance at the end of the film. Possibly even in a post credit scene to set up a sequel.
After watching the new trailer, we are definitely excited to see what Venom has in store for audiences everywhere. This new trailer gave us exactly what we wanted. We got some great footage of Venom in action, including an epic battle between Venom and Riot. We got a better sense of what the story is going to be about and I for one can’t want to go check out this film. Venom hits theaters on October 5th.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Production Delays
Last month, during San Diego Comic Con, it was revealed that director James Gunn was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. His firing resulted from the resurfacing of inappropriate and offensive jokes that he made on the social media platform Twitter nearly a decade ago. A petition was circulated to rehire the director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It reached over 360,000 signatures. However, recently, news reports claim that it’s unlikely Disney will bring Gunn back for the third film. Which leaves us wondering what’s in store for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
Despite the cast standing up for James Gunn and showing their support, it’s likely they will return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This is due to their contractual obligations to Disney. The film is still expected to be released sometime in 2020, but at this point nothing is certain. If the release date changes, it could mean that the original start date of February 2019 will also need to be pushed back. Right now the studios main concern is to find a director to fill Gunn’s shoes as soon as possible. Let us know who you think should replace James Gunn as director in the comments below, we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Primetime Emmy’s
Last month the 70th Emmy Awards Nominations were announced and there sure is a lot of stiff competition. We’ll be looking at just a few of these categories. Including Best Drama Series. This category alone has some really great shows in the running. Which include The Americans, The Crown, Game of Thrones, The Handmaids Tale, Stranger Things, This Is Us and Westworld. Another category I’m interested in is Best Television Movie which includes such nominees as Fahrenheit 451, Flint, Paterno, The Tale, and USS Calister (Black Mirror).
As you can see, we have a few nominees from the highly successful streaming service Netflix. Which has led some critics to question whether or not Netflix Originals should be included amongst the nominees. The internet has become a groundbreaking medium for distributing content. Though people have to pay for and subscribe to streaming services in order to view their content, the same can be said about other networks like HBO and Showtime. Who’s shows are regularly included in award ceremonies like the Emmy’s.
But let’s see what our audience thinks. Do you guys think content from streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon should be included in award ceremonies like the Emmy’s? Let us know in the comments below.
Recommendation: Ready Player One
This months recommendation is Ready Player One Directed by Steven Spielberg. Starring Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller and Simon Pegg. When Halliday, the creator of a virtual reality world called the OASIS dies, he releases a video challenging all OASIS users to find an Easter egg he’s left behind. Which will give the user who finds it Halliday’s fortune and control over the OASIS.
Ready Player One is both visually stunning and fun for the whole family. Spielberg takes you on an adventure of epic proportions through a virtual world where anything is possible. Even climbing Mount Everest with Batman! Go pick up a copy of Ready Player One today!
That does it for us here at Popcorn Feed, thanks for watching. To recap, we talked about the new Venom trailer, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the 2018 Primetime Emmy’s.
