Gideon Falls from Image Comics is on of the best comic book series of 2018! We think it is safe to say it’s one of the best comic book series going into 2019 also. We are very excited for this episode of Talks Comics! We go over the first story arc, the Black Barn. If you are looking for a new comic book series to read that isn’t about superheroes, then we highly recommend Gideon Falls by Jeff Lemire, Andrea Sorrentino and Dave Stewart.

Volume 1: The Black Barn
The Black Barn is the first story arc for Gideon Falls by Image Comics. The first volume, or story arc, consists of issues 1-6. In this story arc, we get introduced to our main characters Norton Sinclair and Father Fred. There is also this really interesting mystery of the Black Barn. What is the Black Barn? Is it even real? How is the Black Barn connected to Norton and Father Fred? One of the cool aspects of Gideon Falls is the duel storytelling we get between the two main characters. Jeff Lemire does an amazing job of writing these two story-lines and keeps us interested in how they will eventually connect.

Gideon Falls: The Creative Team
One of the biggest selling points of Gideon Falls is the great creative team on this series. Written by Jeff Lemire (Old Man Logan/ Green Arrow/ Sweet Tooth/ Black Hammer), and art by Andrea Sorrentino (Old Man Logan/ Green Arrow) and Dave Stewart ( Black Hammer/ Masteros).
As mentioned above, the writing from Jeff Lemire keeps you interested in learning more about the characters and the mystery of the Black Barn. The art is simply amazing in this series. The whole tone that Andrea and Dave set helps make this series so interesting. You just get so much more out of the story with this amazing art.
