What is Watchmen about?
HBO’s Watchmen takes place 34 years after the events of the comic series. Vigilantes have been outlawed due to their violent and extreme methods. In 1985, Adrian Veidt, formerly known as Ozymandias, manufactured a fake attack on New York City by a giant alien squid. This led to millions of New Yorkers being killed and nations being forced to work together against a common threat, averting a nuclear holocaust.
Set in 2019 in Tulsa Oklahoma, the show revolves around the Seventh Kavalry, a white supremacist organization inspired by Rorschach’s writings and masked image. The Seventh Kavalry wages war against minorities and the Tulsa police force responsible for enforcing reparations for victims of racial injustice. We learn that on Christmas Eve 2016, the Seventh Kavalry targeted and attacked the homes of 40 Tulsa police officers. Of those that survived, only Detective Angela Abar and Chief Judd Crawford remained with the force. While the police force was rebuilt, laws were passed forcing police officers to not disclose their profession and to protect their identity by wearing masks, allowing for costumed police officers.Principle Photography
