The new year is among us and we finally get our first of many new streaming series from Marvel Studios, WandaVision. This 9 episode mini-series will dive into the lives of familiar Avengers Scarlet Witch and Vision. Here we are going to look at some details about the new streaming series on Disney + and the origins of these main characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

WandaVision

After the events of the 2019 blockbuster hit Avengers Endgame. Wanda and Vision are living the ideal suburban life in the town of Westview, trying to conceal their powers. As they begin to enter new decades and encounter television tropes, the couple suspects that things are not as they seem.



Each episode will take place within a new decade for the super-powered couple. The series will begin with the first two episodes which take place in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Disney + series will be the first in a line of MCU series, which begins the next Phase in Marvel Studios entertainment line up. Since the studio announced the series and the additional movies in development at the investors’ summit last December. The schedule of new series and movies is packed with new titles such as the upcoming series Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki.

First Appearance: Scarlet Witch 

Scarlet Witch was originally one of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. A team of mutants was Formed by Magneto to combat Charles Xavier’s X-Men.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Scarlet Witch was created by the late great Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Some of the greatest Marvel comics characters were created by the duo. Such as Spider-Man, Daredevil, the X-Men, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, to name a few of their more popular characters.

 

 

 

(W) Roy Thomas (A) John Buscema & Marie Serverin

First Appearance: Vision 

 

Roy Thomas (Left) is also the co-creator of Wolverine, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and numerous other Marvel characters. Artist John Buscema (Center) worked on over 200 issues on the original Avengers comic series. Marie Serverin (Right) was one of the first women to work at Marvel comics. She co-created several characters along with creator Stan Lee.

WandaVision Cast

 

Elizabeth Olsen reprises her role as Scarlet Witch. After making her first MCU appearance in Avengers Age of Ultron. She has become one of the most powerful members of the Avengers.

There is some domesticated chemistry that is developed between the characters that begin in the 2016 film, Captain American Civil War. Then as the Phase 3 movies continued the characters finally making it official in the 2018 movie, Avengers Infinity War.

Paul Betty reprises his role as Vision.  Making his first appearance as Tony Starks interactive AI Jervis in the 2008 movie, Ironman. He was finally brought to life after being constructed by Ultron, in the 2016 movie. Just as the additions of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. So was the addition of Vision to the Avengers ranks. Just as his female counterpart, he has been established as one of the most powerful Avengers.

 

 

 

Kathryn Hahn is the couple’s neighbor who is curious about the couple’s odd behavior. Hahn is no stranger to the MCU. She also voiced Olivia Octavius in the 2018 Academy Award-Winning Into the Spider-Verse. 

 

 

 

 

 

Kat Dennings (left) will also be reprising her role as Darcy Lewis (Thor). Of course, Darcy is Jane Fosters (Natalie Portman), loud-mouthed assistant.

 

Randall Park (right) returns as Jimmy Woo (Ant-Man & the Wasp). This time he won’t be Scott Langs babysitter.
