Here are a few details on the topics that we cover in this episode of Talks Comics!:

doomsday clock

One quick this to note is that Doomsday Clock is moving from a monthly comic series to a bi-monthly series. Unfortunately, the creators just couldn’t keep up with the schedule, so instead of lower the pages from 32 to 20, they just decided to delay this issues a bit.

Action Comics #1000 is coming out soon, but it seems it has been pushed back from March 2018 to April 2018. Action Comics #999 will come out in March 14th with the hardcover, Action Comics: 80 Years of Superman coming out April 11th. The actual issue of Action Comics #1000 will come out a week later on April 18th.

Action Comics #1000 - Classic Red Trunks Look For Superman

Action Comics #1000 – Classic Red Trunks Look For Superman. Story by Brian Michael Bendis, Art by Jim Lee

Brian Michael Bendis is leaving Marvel Comics and coming over the DC Comics. This is huge news for the comic book industry as Bendis has been with Marvel Comics for years. Helping create Marvel characters Miles Morales and Jessica Jones. Bendis will also be taking on a main story in Action Comics #1000 with Jim Lee doing the art. This will lead to Bendis taking over the main Superman comic. Not only that but they will be relaunching the Superman series with a new #1 issue.

Here is a cool quote from Bendis on the Action Comics #1000 story he will be working on:

“In that first story,” he said, “it’s not just some random backup story or flight of fancy. It is a major chapter in what we’re doing, with some really big bombs we’re dropping in Superman’s life — and two of them happen right there in Action Comics #1000. So it’s a huge tease of what we’re doing and what’s coming up in Superman’s life.”

After Action Comics #1000 Bendis will start on a 6-issue miniseries called “Man of Steel” which will lead to the relaunch of Superman #1 on July 11, 2018.

dark nights metal

There is also some big news with Scott Snyder as he raps up his run on Dark Nights: Metal. Snyder will start working on the main Justice League comic book series! I think we can all admit that the main Justice League comic series hasn’t been the best series in the Rebirth series, so its great we are getting an amazing writer like Scott Snyder to take over.

First Snyder will start on a 4-part miniseries called No Justice starting May 9th which will follows the events of Metal. This will actually split the Justice League into four different teams. The No Justice miniseries will being co-written by Scott Snyder, James Tynion, and Joshua Williamson with art by Francis Manupal.

Team Mystery: Superman, Martian Manhunter, Sinestro, Starfire, and Starro.
Team Entropy: Batman, Deathstroke, Lobo, Lex Luthor, and Beast Boy.
Team Wonder: Wonder Woman, Doctor Fate, Etrigan the Demon, Zatanna, and Raven.
Team Wisdom: Flash, Cyborg, Robin (Damian Wayne), Harley Quinn, and the Atom.

After the No Justice mini-series, Scott Snyder will take over the main Justice League series and over time they will have a few other Justice League series based on the other Justice League teams from No Justice. We will keep you up to date as more details are released on this.

As we mentioned in the above video for Talks Comics! we wanted to give out a different comic book recommendation for this episode. Instead of just give out a DC Comics or Marvel Comics recommendation, we wanted to give out a recommendation from Image Comics.

This episodes comic book/graphic novel recommendation is Paper Girls from Image Comics. Which has a cool Stranger Things feeling to it, very nostalgic.

paper girls

Here is a brief description of Paper Girls by Brian K. Vaughan and art by Cliff Chiang:

In the early hours after Halloween of 1988, four 12-year-old newspaper delivery girls uncover the most important story of all time. Suburban drama and otherworldly mysteries collide in this critically acclaimed story about nostalgia, first jobs, and the last days of childhood.

You can pick up Paper Girls at most local comic book shops, comic book online retailers, and you can also buy it from Amazon by clicking here. You can also click on the picture of Paper Girls above to be directed to Amazon.
