The Future of Smuggler’s Bounty Boxes
This is typically where we would show you the theme for the next Smuggler’s Bounty box. However, this subscription has been discontinued by Funko and there will no longer be any new releases. This box originally was directly through Funko. Then it was discontinued and brought back as an Amazon exclusive. So we will have to wait and see if there is ever a future iteration of this Star Wars Funko subscription service.

Funko is one of the biggest names in collectibles and 2019 has been a big year for the company. Along with their HQ store in Everett, Washington, they have officially opened a second store in Hollywood, California. On November 18th, 2019 Funko had a grand opening celebration for the public. Luckily, we here at My Comic Universe got a chance to make it to the Funko HollywoodGrand Opening event! There were games, food trucks, Paka Paka machines, and of course, exclusive Pops!
Funko Hollywood Grand Opening
With the new store opening in Hollywood, Funko had a grand opening event to celebrate the store’s public unveiling. They released free tickets on Eventbrite for 5 different time slots throughout the day. The time slots were 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm, and 6 pm. We were able to get 2 tickets for the 10 am time slot. They also had a standby line for people that weren’t able to get a ticket.
Funko Hollywood Store Tour
The store was separated into different sections. Each section has giant versions of Funko figures, tons of Pops, Pez and more. Funko had chases and other exclusives hidden in each room/section.
We entered the left side of the store which led us by the Marvel section. Near the Marvel section is the Harry Potter room and the DC room. As you start to make your way to the center of the store, there is Disney, Jurrasic Park, Anime and Games. Once you make it to the right side of the store you get to the TV and Horror sections, which then leads to one of the coolest rooms in the store… the Star Wars room! Then as you make your way towards the last few sections, there is Wetmore Forest, Funko Shop, and Music and Sports. Also, near the registers are the Funko Paka Paka machines. You can buy tokens at the register for $5 each. They can be used at the Paka Paka machines for a guaranteed figure.
Overall the Hollywood store is amazing. It definitely is bigger than their HQ store in Everett. Now that the Hollywood store is open, we will be making it over this store all the time!
It wouldn’t be a Funko event without exclusive Pops! The Funko Hollywood store has 7 different exclusive Pops! that are only available at the Hollywood store. Included were a Tony the Tiger (with sunglasses), Bob’s Big Boy (with sunglasses), Freddy Funko (with Walk of Fame star), Marilyn Monroe, Chester Cheetah (holding bag of Cheetos), Wonder Woman (holding Hollywood bag), and Huckleberry Hound (holding Hollywood bag).
Also available at the Funko Hollywood store were an exclusive tee shirt as well as Paka Paka machines. These machines are typically only available in select GameStop and Think Geek retail stores.
We had such an incredible time at the Grand Opening of the Funko Hollywood store. The experience has us thinking back on our trip to Funko HQ in Everett, Washington while we were in town for Emerald City Comic-Con.
Funko HQ
Here are some of the photos we took at Funko HQ in Everett back in March. It was our first time making the trip to this Funko mecca. We had so much fun checking out all of the enormous Funko figures and hanging out with some amazing members of the Funko community!

We here at My Comic Universe had a great time at this year’s LA Comic Con! As usual, there was a bit of everything. From comics and collectibles to epic celebrity appearances, amazing cosplayers, and incredible artwork. In this article, though, we will focus on a presence we have noticed becoming more and more popular at conventions: enamel pins!
Enamel pins are not a new trend by any means. However, in recent years the number of collectors, as well as the range of pin designs, seem to have skyrocketed to new highs. We used to see vendors with small sections dedicated to pins. Now we are seeing entire booths dedicated to these shiny little trinkets. With that said, let’s take a look at some of our favorite vendors from this year’s con!
Viciouskill
We have known Victor and the guys at Viciouskill for a while now. Seeing them grow has been incredible! This was their fourth year partnering with LACC to put out their official convention pin and shirt designs. The guys are very welcoming at their booth and always willing to talk artwork or even just geek out with you.
Viciouskill is known for doing a wide range of pop culture characters in their signature “running man” pose. They produce these designs as pins, live tee shirt screen printing and as stickers in varied sizes.
If you are interested in any of what Viciouskill has to offer, check out their website here and be sure to follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Goozee Pins
This was our first time having the pleasure of meeting Tweety and the rest of the crew at Goozee Pins. They were extremely friendly and showed us just how much love they put into their pins! They had a wide variety of pins, including some exclusive to the convention itself.
Goozee Pins booth was absolutely loaded with so many awesome pin designs. I would be surprised to see any person leave it without at least one striking their nostalgia bone. Though they showcase a variety of fandoms, we noticed a large number of their designs feature of mashup of Pokemon characters crossed with other popular properties. One of our favorites of their lineup is a Venomized Gengar with a chance at a Carnage variant.
To see what Goozee Pins has available for sale, check out their website here and be sure to follow them on Instagram,Facebook, and Twitter.
BB-Cre.8
The team at BB-Cre.8 has been putting out some outstanding designs since day one and never slowed down. We have seen them at a handful of conventions prior to this year’s LACC and they seem to be steadily growing and expanding their concepts to appeal to our nostalgia.
BB-Cre.8 makes a lot of awesome designs that mash-up Star Wars with other popular characters or properties. Such as a Chewbacca themed Wu-Tang “W” or a Majora’s Mask pin with Darth Maul‘s face paint. My favorites of their pins though has to be their NES cartridge sliding pins. I do not think that any person who grew up in the NES era could pass by their booth without stopping to admire these epic pieces.
Check out BB-Cre.8‘s website here and make sure you’re following them on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with their designs and convention appearances.
Little Shop of Pins
We absolutely loved this boutique pin booth! Little Shop of Pins was very busy each time we passed through. Jason and Amy were kind enough to let us take pictures of their pins amidst a seemingly never-ending group of customers in their booth.
Little Shop of Pins has a little something for everybody. From popular horror characters to their Mr. Rodgers LACC exclusive pin, Bigfoot from A Goofy Movie to Super Mario pins they have you covered. My favorites were this set of power-ups from Mario Kart!
If you’d like to see what Little Shop of Pins has to offer, check out their website here and go check them out on Instagram,Facebook, and Twitter for updates.
Do you collect pins? Leave a comment below! We would love to know what you collect, or which of the pins featured above you would like to own. We would love to hear from you! Thank you for reading.

The March Marvel Collector Corps box is one of the better boxes we have unboxed in a while. This month’s theme is Captain Marvel. We know you watched Avengers: Endgame and saw Captain Marvel kick butt in that movie! We hope you got a chance to watch the Captain Marvelmovie, because this box won’t make too much sense then. Funko has given us 2 pops in this box, along with two other items. It’s always a good box when you get two pops instead of one. Check out our below video unboxing the Captain Marvel theme for the Marvel Collector CorpsFunko subscription box. We also give you a little spoiler on the next theme, which is already sold out!

Funko Pop! grading is something new that we expect to grow a lot in the coming years. The process of grading and encasing collectibles has been a staple in many collector communities for years!
Whether it be comic books, sports memorabilia, cards, coins, action figures and more, grading and encapsulation have been a great way for collectors and investors alike to preserve their item’s condition. While also adding to it’s overall value. It’s no surprise that someone has come forward with their sights set on providing the same type of service for our beloved Funko Pop! vinyl figures.
We’ve been given the opportunity to review a demo of The Vinyl Vault Grading System (The VVGS for short)! Check out our video review of The VVGS below.
